As we are a REALTOR  Team serving the city of Oakville, we are often asked by our clients : What are the best schools in the city of Oakville, ON ?

Our Answer to this is : Find the best home you can reasonably afford in the city of Oakville and send your children to the nearest public school. If you have a choice of schools  send your kids to the higher scoring school. No matter what, we think it can safely said that no matter what public school they attend in Oakville, their success won’t be determined by an EAOQ score.

And one more thing. Don’t let the number of kids attending private schools lead you to believe there’s some deficiency in Halton region public schools. There’s tremendous wealth in the city of Oakville. Wealthy parents can provide the best of the best for their children. But even with that being said, the money being spent on private schools ensures better discipline, nicer facilities, uniforms, etc….. BUT, are the teachers smarter and more dedicated compared to those in the public school system? Not necessarily!

The school rankings are a reasonable measure of a school as they are based on standardized tests in grade 3 and 6. Also, you can follow rankings over the years to see if a school has improved, declined, or stayed steady. In fact any school with a good to excellent score should be fine and many schools have good scores in Oakville. A lot of our friends are happy with private education in Canada as the school is a business and you are the customer and they do tend to work hard to satisfy your needs.

Having said that, many public schools are excellent and you may not need to pay a lot of money to get a good education in Canada. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to look up ratings on the principals/teachers in the schools you’re considering if any are available. A good principal can often make the difference. Oakville is beautiful and we hope you will love it here.
